The National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued an advisory to all medical colleges ahead of the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination scheduled for June 21. The NMC instructs institutions not to grant leave to medical students on June 20 and 21, except for “unavoidable” or exceptional circumstances. The directive also asks colleges to remain vigilant, sensitise students, and tighten monitoring of student activities during the lead-up to the exam.

According to multiple reports, the NMC’s instruction is issued in response to directions received from the Ministry of Education, through its Department of Higher Education, which sought cooperation from medical institutions to protect the examination’s integrity and ensure smooth administration. Several outlets cite the NMC’s reference to past instances in which medical students were allegedly involved in activities that could compromise the fairness and credibility of entrance examinations.

Reports also describe that the NEET re-examination will be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), with increased security and monitoring measures planned for the June 21 test date. The NMC’s advisory is intended to prevent any actions that could interfere with the examination process.
