Former Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA Saukat Molla is booked on charges of rape and criminal intimidation following a complaint by a woman, according to multiple reports. The complainant alleges that she was subjected to repeated sexual assault and physical abuse by Molla and three other persons. The accused are identified in the reports as Molla’s driver and the driver’s brother, among others.
The complaint links the alleged assault to earlier events involving the complainant’s son. The woman alleges that her son was taken by “antisocial elements,” and that after this, Molla and the other accused persons assaulted her.
The reports also reference that Molla is connected to an NIA case related to the Bhangar bomb blast, noting that he has been arrested by the National Investigation Agency in that matter. Authorities are investigating the allegations based on the woman’s complaint, and the booking is described as part of the criminal proceedings in the rape case.
