Famke Janssen, who played Jean Grey/Phoenix in the X-Men film series, says Marvel Studios made a mistake by not asking her to return for “Avengers: Doomsday,” which is scheduled to premiere December 18. According to Janssen, she believes she should have been brought into the project, noting that several of her former co-stars are reportedly returning while she is not.
Janssen made the comments while appearing at Spacecon 2026, with reporting carried by entertainment outlets including Deadline and Variety. In her remarks, she also referenced her tendency to speak openly, saying she is “bad at keeping secrets,” and that her reactions are visible.
Neither outlet indicates that Marvel Studios has commented on Janssen’s statements or that any formal casting decision has been announced publicly beyond existing information about who is returning.
