The National Testing Agency (NTA) is responding to a controversy involving a Nagpur-based NEET UG 2026 re-examination candidate whose admit card listed an exam centre in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, despite his stated preference for a centre in Nagpur and lack of a passport for international travel. Multiple reports say the candidate, Abdullah Mohammad Talib, discovered the overseas centre assignment shortly before the June 21 re-test and his family expressed concern about travel and examination logistics.
NTA initially acknowledged an “allotment error” and said it would issue a revised admit card after verification. In a later clarification, NTA said its web-activity records show that the “city change” to Abu Dhabi was made during the correction window through the candidate’s own registered login credentials, pointing to web activity logs consistent with a single-user access pattern. The candidate’s family disputes the claim, saying the change did not originate from their side.
After complaints to NTA channels, the candidate’s centre was corrected and he appears for the re-examination on June 21. The re-test is held in pen-and-paper mode across 551 cities in India and 14 abroad, with over 22 lakh expected candidates.
