India’s armed forces observe the 12th International Day of Yoga with yoga sessions held across land and at sea. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh leads a major gathering in Shillong, where troops participate in group yoga under the event’s theme, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.” The celebrations also include participation by senior service leadership, with Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh joining Singh in Shillong. On the Army side, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi is reported to lead ceremonies with troops in Tezpur.
Beyond the mainland, the outreach extends to naval platforms and the Indian Coast Guard, with yoga activities carried out aboard ships at sea as well as at harbour. Across different locations and formations—from high-altitude posts to parade grounds—soldiers, sailors, and air warriors take part in structured sessions marking what is described as a nationwide and global health-focused observance.
