Labour Party senatorial candidate Labaran Maku rejects the results of the Nasarawa North by-election and calls for the election to be cancelled and rerun. Maku says INEC and the Returning Officer did not adequately address alleged electoral irregularities raised by Labour Party agents during collation. He argues that officials failed to respond to concerns about fraud and manipulation.

During a press briefing at his residence in Wakama (Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area), Maku cites multiple incidents, including allegations of ballot paper thumb-printing, malfunctioning BVAS machines, and vote manipulation in wards across Nasarawa Eggon, Akwanga and Wamba local government areas. He also accuses INEC officials of collusion with the state government to influence the outcome.

Maku demands that INEC cancel the by-election and calls for investigations by the federal government, describing the conduct as a serious national embarrassment.

An APC spokesman in Nasarawa, Augustine Ogaba, dismisses the allegations, saying Maku’s claims are driven by political factors and that the election was credible. Ogaba says the APC candidate received more votes than all opposition parties combined. The dispute heightens calls for transparency and adherence to electoral procedures in the constituency.
