Mahayuti wins 16 of 17 declared seats in the 2026 Maharashtra Legislative Council (MLC) elections, according to reports. Voting for local authorities’ constituencies is held by elected representatives from municipal corporations, municipal councils, nagar panchayats and zilla parishads, not by the general public. For the Aurangabad–Jalna Local Authorities constituency, Mahayuti candidate Suhas Shirsat wins the seat. He receives 455 votes and defeats Mahavikas Aghadi (MVA) candidate Ganesh Lokhande, who gets 135 votes. Independent candidate Isaq Khan Sandu Khan receives 35 votes, while five votes are declared invalid. The counting is announced by the Returning Officer and District Collector Vinay Gauda G.C. after polling on June 18, with results declared on Monday. Across Maharashtra, elections were scheduled for 17 seats, but polling occurs in 12 constituencies because five Mahayuti candidates are elected unopposed. The alliance wins 16 seats overall. The main exception is Nashik, where a BJP rebel, Gokul Gite, defeats the Shiv Sena official candidate Narendra Darade, highlighting differences within the ruling coalition.
