The Federal High Court in Abuja orders activist and African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre, following the revocation of bail previously granted to him. The court remands him pending the resumption of proceedings on a two-count cybercrime charge filed by the Department of State Services (DSS). The charge relates to an alleged social media post in which Sowore is accused of calling President Bola Tinubu a “criminal.”

According to the reports, the court’s decision follows an earlier ruling in which trial Justice Mohammed Umar revoked Sowore’s bail and issued a warrant of arrest after Sowore did not appear in court for the continuation of his trial. The reports also say Sowore had opted to represent himself after his legal team withdrew from the case.

In addition, a Monday ruling dismissed a motion seeking to disqualify Justice Umar from conducting the trial over allegations of bias. The next court date is set for Wednesday, when proceedings are scheduled to continue.
