The Centre says DIKSHA (Digital Infrastructure for Knowledge Sharing) has become India’s “One Nation, One Digital Platform” for school education. Launched in 2017, the government describes DIKSHA as an NCERT-led platform, developed in collaboration with the Central Institute of Educational Technology (CIET), to provide curriculum-linked digital learning resources for students from foundational levels through senior secondary classes. The government states that DIKSHA is used by education boards across most states and Union Territories and can be customised for regional languages and curricula.

According to the Centre, the platform aims to support learning continuity through both online and offline options, including downloadable content for later use and state preloading of materials on smart classroom boards. The government also points to media-rich resources such as animations, augmented reality experiences, simulations, and virtual laboratories, along with QR-coded textbooks that connect physical NCERT books to videos, interactive content, and teacher guides.

DIKSHA is also presented as inclusive, incorporating features such as DAISY-format support, text-to-speech, and Indian Sign Language videos, alongside tools for practice questions and assessments. The Centre further says teacher professional development is supported through NISHTHA and state training programmes.
