APC chieftain Joe Igbokwe says his rise to prominence was not driven by money from the ruling party. In a statement posted on his official Facebook page, he addresses online insinuations that membership in APC and support for President Bola Tinubu have made him wealthy. Igbokwe recounts his earlier life and work, saying he fed his mother during his school years in the 1970s by fetching firewood and water for sale. He also says he worked as a bus conductor in Lagos and engaged in petty business activities before becoming successful. He adds that he later started a restaurant business after graduating, sold motor parts and cars at Western Avenue in Lagos, and became involved in buying and selling land. He also states that he is the author of five books. The reports note that Igbokwe has faced frequent online attacks linked to his support for APC and Tinubu’s administration, which he is responding to through the account of his personal finances and career history.
