Reuters reports that Tata Electronics, an India-based Apple contract manufacturer, suffers a cybersecurity incident in which more than 200,000 Tata files are stolen and posted online in a purported ransomware attack. Multiple outlets say Reuters has found that some of the exposed documents include details tied to Apple’s unreleased iPhone 18 Pro models. The leaked material includes supplier lists and mappings of iPhone 18 Pro parts—such as components on the main circuit board and parts for the battery and camera—to specific suppliers. Reuters also says the files indicate where Apple uses multiple suppliers for certain parts and where it relies on fewer suppliers, information Apple treats as sensitive.

According to Reuters, the documents also contain Apple “confidential” watermarks and internal code names, and include photographs of iPhone 18 Pro handsets undergoing drop tests at a Tata plant, with dates described as early 2026. The reports state the leak covers hundreds of parts expected for the iPhone 18 Pro models. Apple and Tata did not respond to Reuters’ requests for comment. Reuters says Apple is investigating and working with Tata on long-term measures and is concerned about the documents’ sharing on the dark web because they relate to unreleased products. Reuters also says it has not verified the authenticity of the data.
