Dacia has reduced the price of its Spring electric city car in the UK to £11,990, undercutting rivals and reclaiming the position as the cheapest new car in the market. TechRadar and the Daily Mail report that Dacia cuts the Spring by about £4,000, while Autocar and The Independent say the entry price now sits at £11,990 on the road. The change also places the Spring below the Leapmotor T03, which The Independent and TechRadar describe as the previous cheapest option.

Autocar reports Leapmotor’s entry price had been lowered to £12,995 with a manufacturer-backed “Leap Grant,” a discount scheme intended to substitute for the government Electric Car Grant for certain European-built EVs. Dacia’s Spring is built in China and is not covered by the UK government incentives, so its discount is described as self-funded. Autocar adds that the cheapest Spring variant is the Expression model, while a higher-spec Spring 100 starts at £12,990. A newer, Europe-built next-generation Spring is expected to arrive early next year.
