The African Democratic Congress (ADC) says it has uploaded the names and particulars of its presidential and vice-presidential candidates to the nomination portal of Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ahead of the 2027 general election. The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, announces in a statement posted on X that Atiku Abubakar and his running mate, Rotimi Amaechi, have been submitted on the INEC portal as the ADC’s standard-bearer and deputy standard-bearer. Abdullahi describes the upload as another step in the party’s preparations for the election.

The reports also recall that Atiku won the ADC presidential primary on May 27, defeating two other contenders: Mohammed Hayatu-Deen and Amaechi. The party later announced Amaechi as Atiku’s running mate on June 16 after consultations with party leadership, coalition partners, stakeholders including youth and women groups, and representatives from across Nigeria’s geopolitical zones. The outlets frame the development as a milestone toward meeting INEC nomination requirements.
