Multiple reports describe allegations by current and former Rockstar employees about workplace practices at the company’s UK-based operations, tied to the development of Grand Theft Auto 6. Employees interviewed for a new report by Game Developer say the company fails to address a widening gender pay gap. They also allege that “crunch” is pursued or effectively built into employment arrangements, including claims that excessive overtime is structured as part of incentive or bonus systems rather than treated as standalone overtime. Several accounts also allege that bonus payments are used to influence or control employee behaviour, with critics characterizing bonus structures as opaque.
The reports additionally mention that workers claim remote work arrangements are restricted or rolled back, while leadership retains greater flexibility and staff are recalled to office locations. The allegations are described as emerging as employees in the UK move to pursue official union recognition following a series of high-profile sackings in 2025.
Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar’s parent company, responds by stating that Rockstar provides a fair work environment.
