The Land Transportation Office in Central Visayas (LTO-7) says the 90-day suspension imposed on the driver’s license of a Toledo City man who allegedly struck a Cebu City traffic enforcer is only preventive and not the final outcome of an administrative case. LTO-7 Regional Director Wendel Dinglasan clarifies that the suspension is implemented while the agency continues to hear and process the driver’s administrative complaint or case. The suspension follows a Wednesday incident on Osmeña Boulevard in Cebu City, where the 64-year-old driver allegedly hit traffic enforcer Jovanie Verano and seriously injured him. According to the agency, the driver’s license suspension takes effect immediately. Separately, LTO-7 places the driver’s Isuzu MU-X under “alarm status” pending the ongoing administrative investigation. The clarification comes amid public discussion about LTO-7’s decision to impose the suspension right away, rather than waiting for completion of proceedings. LTO-7 maintains that the measures are intended to manage risk and enforce standards while the case is still under review.
