Nothing announces that its original smartphone, the Nothing Phone (1), has reached the end of its software support lifecycle. Multiple outlets report that the company is rolling out what it describes as a final software update, after which the device will no longer receive future software updates. The rollout is described as beginning now and reaching all users over the coming days.
According to the reports, the update includes the latest Android security patch—specifically cited as the July 2026 Android security patch—and also provides general bug fixes, performance improvements, and enhanced system stability. NDTV adds that the final update brings Android 15 to the Phone (1) and includes “general improvements and bug fixes.”
The device’s support timeline is also consistent across sources: the Phone (1) debuted in July 2022, shipped with Android 12-based Nothing OS 1, and receives software over a four-year lifecycle. NDTV states the phone gets three major OS upgrades and security updates during that period, after which it completes its software lifecycle.
