A 63-year-old man, identified as Yunus Kundawala, dies after a tree branch collapses onto his shop during heavy rainfall in Mumbai’s Kurla (West), near the Hindi BMC School in the Naupada locality. The incident occurs around 12:40 pm on Sunday, according to civic officials. He is extricated from the debris by emergency responders and rushed to Fauzia Hospital, where doctors declare him brought dead.

The reports describe this as Mumbai’s second fatal tree-fall incident within a week. Earlier, another fatal tree-fall was reported in Chembur, where an 11-year-old boy died and several others were injured after a tree uprooted and fell on a moving school bus on June 30.

In Kurla, responders including the fire brigade, police, BEST, and civic staff reach the scene and carry out rescue and clearance operations. The incidents are linked to ongoing safety concerns during periods of heavy rain.
