Multiple reports say Google is testing a new control for Gemini Live on Android that would let users restrict access to the phone camera used for guided vision. NDTV reports that an update to the Google app for Android (version 17.38.5.sa.arm64) includes a new setting related to Gemini Live. Android Authority similarly says Gemini Live is preparing an option that changes how the feature works with a phone’s camera.

The proposed control relates to “guided vision,” which is a camera-based mode that allows Gemini Live to analyze objects in real time during conversations. According to the reports, the feature is not yet fully available to all users and the toggle is still in development. Enabling the guided vision component would allow Gemini Live to access the camera for object analysis. Disabling it would reportedly prevent Gemini Live from using the camera, limiting the feature’s ability to perform real-time visual analysis.

Both sources frame this as an upcoming privacy- and control-focused setting rather than a fully released change, with the final availability depending on future rollout.
