The Maharashtra government announces it will scrutinize the financial affairs of the National Sports Club of India (NSCI) and ensure recovery of civic dues owed to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). According to the report, legislators raise concerns about NSCI’s payments, prompting the government to schedule a meeting to review what the club has paid to the BMC and what remains outstanding. The meeting is expected to take place within 15 days.

The government says it will implement recommendations from the Public Accounts Committee and establish a new committee to oversee follow-up action. It also cites that the BMC has already recovered substantial sums, including revenue-share payments and penalties linked to unauthorized construction. In addition, the civic body is stated to be regularly collecting NSCI’s 33% revenue share.

Overall, the move focuses on compliance with payment obligations to the BMC and the proper handling of dues and penalties, using committee oversight and PAC recommendations to guide the review process.
