Food safety officials in Indore inspect multiple school kitchens and food outlets after complaints received through the Collector Helpline, CM Helpline and the FoSCoS portal. Across four establishments, they collect a total of 17 food samples for laboratory testing at the State Food Testing Laboratory in Bhopal. At Vedant International School on Chhota Bangarda Road, officials collect four samples of items including black gram, cooked rice, Manchurian and black salt after a parent’s complaint. Reports cited that students were served Manchurian containing MSG, along with issues such as rotten potatoes found in the kitchen; these are destroyed on the spot. The school is also reported to lack medical fitness certificates for food handlers and a water quality test report, and is issued a notice to submit the water test report and comply with food safety rules.

In a separate inspection, officials visit Praji De Kulche in New Palasia and collect samples of rajma, cooked chole and flour. At Pakshala – The Andhra Kitchen, they collect three samples including tandoori chicken, gravy and dosa batter. At Jain Shree Restaurant near the Indus Satellite Railway Bridge, officials cite poor cleanliness and collect seven samples including dal, gravy, groundnut oil, garam masala, red chilli powder, salt and cooked noodles, instructing the outlet to improve hygiene.

In another inspection, officials also collect six samples from SDPS International School, and note hygiene-related shortcomings including inadequate pest control, unavailable drinking water test reports and rusty kitchen tools, directing the management to rectify deficiencies and follow FIFO storage.
