Police operatives in Ondo State kill two suspected kidnappers during a gun battle along the Akure–Owo Expressway. Multiple reports say the incident occurs in the Akure North Local Government Area, at or near a block industry in Ilu Abo. The suspects, described as masked gunmen and numbering about seven, reportedly invade the block industry in the early hours of Wednesday or Thursday when officers respond, including the Federal Highway Patrol Unit.
During the exchange of gunfire, police kill two of the suspects. Other suspects escape into nearby bushes, with one source adding that five others flee and are being hunted, some reportedly with suspected gunshot wounds. Police say they recover items including weapons and phones from the scene.
The reports do not provide details on casualties among civilians or broader consequences. Police authorities continue efforts to locate the remaining suspects linked to the reported kidnapping operation.
