Apple says it is expanding its agreement with Broadcom for custom chip and wireless technology production, with the multiyear deal expected to exceed $30 billion. Multiple outlets describe the contract as Apple’s largest single commitment under its American Manufacturing Program (AMP), which is part of a broader pledge to invest $600 billion in the United States over four years.
Apple and Broadcom also say the agreement supports expanded manufacturing at Broadcom’s facility in Fort Collins, Colorado. The reporting indicates Broadcom plans to invest about $1.5 billion to expand and modernize the plant to produce advanced radio-frequency components, including FBAR filters, as well as wireless connectivity technologies.
Apple says the expanded arrangement is intended to increase U.S.-made chip output, with one figure cited across outlets stating production of more than 15 billion chips. Several sources add that the effort is expected to support “hundreds” of American jobs, while Broadcom’s agreement with Apple is described as extending through at least 2031. The outlets characterize the announcement as a continuation of Apple’s push to increase domestic component supply.
