Gunmen suspected of kidnapping are reported to have carried out renewed attacks in Dass Local Government Area of Bauchi State, leaving one person dead and four others abducted within about two weeks. Former Bauchi lawmaker and House of Representatives aspirant Maryam Bagel made the disclosure, saying incidents occurred in Kagadama and Bagel villages. According to Bagel, a pharmacy owner was abducted in Kagadama, with the attackers reportedly demanding ₦50 million ransom. She also said another resident, Shahibi, who had been abducted previously, was shot dead in Bagel in front of his wife and children. Bagel further alleged that the gunmen returned to Kagadama and abducted three additional people, including a 10-year-old boy, after a shop owner escaped. The Bauchi State Police Command confirmed the incidents, stating that security operatives, hunters, and vigilantes have been deployed to rescue victims and track down suspects. The reports come shortly after a separate incursion in Rafin Ciyawa village in Ningi LGA, where residents said two children were killed and others were injured and abducted.
