Former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal says politicians who are committed to serving the public rather than pursuing personal interests are the ones suited to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC). He speaks on Wednesday while welcoming the immediate past chairman of Tangaza Local Government Area, Isa Salihu Kalenjeni, who resigned his position and defected from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Tambuwal urges politicians who believe they are working for the people and for God—not for selfish gain—to show the courage to leave their current parties and publicly join the ADC, regardless of pressure or intimidation.

He also alleges that the APC intimidates lawmakers and local officials planning to defect to the ADC and tries to create divisions within opposition ranks. Tambuwal further argues that the ruling party increasingly treats the ADC as a major threat ahead of upcoming elections. Separately, he criticises the Tinubu administration for continued security challenges across Nigeria, saying growing numbers of Nigerians are disappointed with the APC due to ongoing insecurity. He commends Kalenjeni for defecting without conditions and presenting it as a commitment to ADC ideals.
