Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Bangladesh’s interior minister Salahuddin Ahmed agree to extend cooperation to curb cybercrime and online fraud, Pakistan’s interior ministry says. The two ministers meet in New York and also discuss expanding collaboration in other areas of mutual interest. The ministry statement says they talk about training and exchange programmes for police officers as part of efforts to strengthen law-enforcement capacity.

The sources also report that the meeting includes a detailed discussion of the US-Iran conflict and the broader current situation in the Middle East. Bangladesh’s minister praises Pakistan’s “constructive role” in establishing peace, while Naqvi says Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Defence Forces/Chef of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir play a vital role in maintaining peace.

Naqvi is in the United States to represent Pakistan at a UN summit held on July 7 and 8, focused on peace, security and enhanced cooperation against transnational crime. On the sidelines of the summit, he meets UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and holds additional meetings with counterparts from China, Russia and Sri Lanka.
