A landslide triggered by continuous heavy rains associated with Super Typhoon Inday hits Barangay Ngingir in Calanogas, Lanao del Sur, in the early hours of Friday, according to police and local officials. Authorities say the incident occurs around 2:30 a.m. after a large section of a hill collapses, burying several houses. Initial reports describe five deaths and six people still missing, with two others reported injured. In a later update, the death toll rises to six after a woman identified as “Nur” is recovered from a river in neighboring Malabang. Police say the victim, a resident of Barangay Ngingir in Calanogas, was found in Sitio Malade, Barangay Pialot, Malabang, and authorities believe she was swept away by floodwaters related to Typhoon Inday, possibly carried about 14 kilometers from the landslide site. Calanogas is placed under a state of calamity as roads and communities are damaged by landslides. Search and retrieval efforts continue while relief assistance is distributed by the provincial government and the Calanogas LGU for landslide victims.
