The Social Security System (SSS) is preparing to launch an energy sustainability loan program that will help members finance the installation of residential solar panels. The plan includes setting aside PHP 40 billion for the program, according to SSS President and Chief Executive Officer Robert Joseph de Claro. De Claro says the SSS is working to announce the initiative by September. He adds that the implementation is likely to begin toward the end of the year or in early 2027, depending on final preparations. The SSS is also finalizing the program’s implementing rules, which will guide how eligible members can apply and how the loans will be administered. The proposal is intended to support household adoption of solar energy through accessible financing under the SSS structure. As of the latest reports, specific details such as loan terms, eligibility requirements, and the application process have not been fully disclosed, but the SSS indicates that these will be outlined once the implementing rules are completed and the program is formally announced.
