Search and recovery operations continue in Bukidnon after two brothers are reported swept away by floodwaters while crossing a spillway with their father on a motorcycle. The incident occurs in Quezon town on Monday, when strong currents—triggered by heavy rains—carry away the 12-year-old boy and his 6-year-old brother as they cross the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) spillway. The 12-year-old is found first. His body is recovered Tuesday morning along the Katipunan River in Sitio Sadiri, Barangay Dagat-Kidavao in Valencia City, where it is reported to be entangled in large tree debris. After that, rescuers continue searching for the younger sibling. On Wednesday afternoon, the 6-year-old boy’s body is recovered at the Pulangi River behind Crystal Sugar Milling Co., Inc. in Maramag, based on identification by family members. Police and city disaster officials are involved in the search efforts, which begin immediately after the brothers go missing and extend across multiple days as flood conditions affect access to waterways.
