The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) says it will blacklist employers that fail to provide accommodation and transportation to corps members posted to their organisations. NYSC Director-General Brig.-Gen. Olakunle Nafiu made the announcement during a working visit to Kogi State while engaging corps members. He states that any employer that does not offer the required welfare support will be excluded from benefiting from NYSC corps services.

Nafiu links the move to broader efforts to improve corps members’ welfare, saying adequate support contributes to better well-being and productivity during the service year. He also reassures corps members of the Federal Government’s commitment to their security and welfare, and calls for greater involvement from state and local governments and other stakeholders to strengthen support for the scheme.

In the same interactions, Nafiu urges corps members to remain disciplined and to promptly report suspicious activities to relevant security agencies. He also advises corps members to take the post-camp Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development training seriously and to build a savings culture.
