Samsung Electronics announces global pricing for its new Galaxy Z8 foldable smartphone lineup during its Galaxy Unpacked 2026 event in London and says it is responding to rising memory costs with targeted pricing and revised branding. The company reorganizes how it labels its foldables: it assigns the highest “Ultra” designation to the traditional bar-type foldable form factor, while a newly introduced wider model keeps the standard “Galaxy Z Fold 8” name without an additional modifier. Samsung says the branding is intended to reflect different specifications and user needs.
On pricing, Samsung says the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra starts at 2.58 million won in Korea for the 256GB model, increasing to 2.83 million won for 512GB and 3.45 million won for 1TB. Samsung frames lower Korea pricing as part of its goal to strengthen the Galaxy brand’s global competitiveness. Samsung also lists overseas prices for the 256GB model at $2,099 in the United States and 2,199 euros in Europe, which are higher than the Korea launch price by about 20% and 44%, respectively. The announced Korea pricing also reflects recent increases in foldable models amid sharply higher memory costs.
