Several people are injured, and at least one person is killed, after a car is suspected to have driven into the crowd near Berlin’s Gay Pride event, according to police. Police say a vehicle entered Tiergarten park and hit several people on the outskirts of the parade shortly before 10:00 p.m. Saturday. A police spokesman reports that some survivors suffer serious injuries and are treated by emergency services. Police add that they are searching for the occupants of the car. Police also say they locate the vehicle thought to be involved but that the search for those responsible is ongoing.
The Christopher Street Day (CSD) event is cut short, and police instruct participants to go home. The incident area is sealed off as authorities respond. Earlier on Saturday, hundreds of thousands of people take part in the parade, which culminates along 17 June Street crossing Berlin’s Tiergarten toward the Brandenburg Gate.
