Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris names Alhaji Ibrahim Muhammad Augie as his running mate for the 2027 governorship election. Multiple outlets report that the announcement is made on Sunday at the Presidential Lodge in Birnin Kebbi, during a stakeholders’ event.
The change is described as the governor replacing his incumbent deputy, Senator Umar Abubakar Tafida Arugungu. Vanguard and Punch both frame the move as the replacement of the deputy, while Daily Post Nigeria emphasizes it as a “dumping” of the deputy. Daily Post also adds that the announcement is made with involvement from the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing Alhaji Suleiman Muhammad Argungu, APC National Organising Secretary, as the person who made the announcement at the lodge.
