Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike accuses Rotimi Amaechi, an African Democratic Congress (ADC) vice-presidential candidate, of causing a pregnant woman to give birth in prison during his time as Rivers State governor. Wike makes the allegation on Wednesday during his monthly media interaction with journalists, saying the incident occurred while Amaechi led the state from 2007 to 2015.
Wike says Amaechi shut down Rivers State’s judiciary, which he links to the detention and delivery of the pregnant woman in prison. In the same remarks, Wike criticises the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) for giving Amaechi a speaking platform at its recently concluded annual conference in Port Harcourt. He argues that if Amaechi ever ordered court shutdowns, he should not receive the opportunity to justify such actions.
