Zee’s complaint states that it has a licensing arrangement with Meta Platforms that permits use of its music in Instagram content only for non-commercial purposes, while Nykaa allegedly used multiple Zee songs in reels to advertise to millions of followers.
In court, Nykaa’s lawyer says the 12 links highlighted by Zee have been taken down, citing a court order, as reported by The Economic Times. Zee and Nykaa do not provide public comment on the case. The outlets also note that the underlying court documents were not publicly available. The next hearing is scheduled for May 26, with the dispute focused on whether Nykaa’s use of the songs in product-promotional reels falls outside the terms of Zee’s licensing with Meta.
