The UK updates travel advice for British nationals after a fresh attack on Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport claimed by Yemen’s Houthi forces. Saudi authorities say the Sunday strike killed at least one person and wounded 11 others, following a deadlier Saturday attack that killed at least 13 and injured more than 300. Saudi aviation authorities extend the airport’s closure, with flight disruptions continuing into Monday.

Across reports, the attacks are described as part of a wider escalation in fighting between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis, with further incidents reported in Saudi Arabia’s east, including activity around Dammam airport and interceptions of drones and missiles. Multiple outlets also cite statements from the Houthis warning travellers and airlines that Saudi airports and airspace are “theatre of operations” for their forces, and claim they will keep targeting transit hubs.

The UK Foreign Office advises against all but essential travel to Saudi airports except Medina International Airport, and also suggests land travel to neighbouring countries before flying. US, European and other governments issue similar warnings about risk and disruption. Separately, Iranian and Saudi officials discuss dialogue, with Iran stressing that it supports a political solution to the Yemen conflict.
