Bandhan Bank’s shares rise around 7–8% after reports that Abu Dhabi-based International Holding Company (IHC) is in early-stage discussions to buy a stake in the bank’s promoter entity, Bandhan Financial Services (BFSL). The reports say IHC could be among the strategic investors, alongside other Abu Dhabi interests such as First Abu Dhabi Bank, as talks focus on selling a substantial minority stake.

Multiple outlets report that BFSL has engaged investment bank Jefferies to identify strategic investors for a proposed 25%–32% stake sale. The rationale highlighted in the coverage is to create an exit route for existing institutional shareholders in BFSL, including Singapore’s GIC and the International Finance Corporation (IFC), which together hold about 30%. One outlet also links the possible restructuring to broader efforts to manage promoter-shareholding requirements under RBI rules.

NDTV adds a contrary element: Bandhan Bank states it is unaware of any stake sale talks involving its promoter entity and says it has received no communication on the matter. Other coverage characterises the discussions as preliminary.
