Samsung Electronics executive chairman Lee Jae-yong is set to receive about 2.6 trillion won (roughly $1.94 billion) in Samsung Electronics shares from his mother, Hong Ra-hee, according to regulatory filings reported by multiple outlets. The planned transfer involves roughly 11.16 million shares, representing a small increase in Lee’s ownership.

Outlets report that the gift agreement is signed Oct. 12 and the share transfer is scheduled to be completed Nov. 12. The shares are described as about a 0.17% stake in Samsung Electronics based on the closing price at the time of reporting. Lee’s stake is expected to rise from about 1.58% to 1.75% after the transfer, while Hong’s stake would decline from about 0.99% to 0.82%. Reporting also notes that the gift tax amount is expected to be determined later. The transactions are framed within the broader context of existing major shareholder holdings and related-party shareholdings in the company.
