A Nigerian Air Force aircraft crash in Igbokoda, Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State, kills 25 people and leaves local residents demanding urgent action. Local sources report residents continue to smell a strong odour linked to decomposing remains that are still floating in a nearby river, alongside visible aviation fuel pollution.

The traditional ruler of the community and residents say parts of the bodies and some debris remain unrecovered, and that the spill has affected the surrounding environment. They also express fear of possible health risks, including a disease outbreak, and say access to clean water for domestic use such as cooking has been restricted.

Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa confirms there are no survivors and that recovery operations are still under way. The Ondo State Commissioner for Environment Tob Loko says the state government is working with the federal government to address the situation, including recovery of remaining remains and debris and environmental remediation to contain the fuel spill and restore affected areas.
