Amazon is expanding its print-on-demand offerings in the U.S. by letting customers create custom designs with Alexa for Shopping. Multiple outlets report that a new feature in the Amazon Shopping app uses Alexa to generate artwork based on user inputs, including text prompts. Customers can then apply the generated designs to a range of products, such as T-shirts, hoodies, water bottles, and other apparel or drinkware items, which are printed and sold through Amazon’s commerce flow.
TechCrunch and The Verge describe the process as starting with users generating designs using Alexa, after which the artwork is printed on blank products made available for purchase on Amazon. The feature also supports sharing, allowing customers to share a link to their design so others can buy the corresponding item. TechRadar adds that shipping is available via Prime.
Amazon says the capability is available to all U.S. customers, according to PYMNTS and the other reports, with the update announced in a June 8 press release.
