Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Peter Obi says he will continue with a defamation lawsuit against Kenneth Okonkwo, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Obi makes the pledge in an interview on Nevon Media hosted by Oseni Rufai. According to the reports, the dispute follows Obi’s earlier public claims involving alleged corruption tied to NDC primary elections. Obi and his lawyers have described allegations that House of Representatives aspirants were allegedly coerced into paying a N10 million bribe to obtain tickets during Obi’s time as governor. The reports also say Okonkwo disputes Obi’s position, accusing him of handpicking candidates who did not win or participate in the primaries, including claims made about events occurring at a hotel in Abuja. In response, Obi says the defamation case would not have come up if Okonkwo stopped at his initial allegations. Obi adds that Okonkwo has indicated he has more information he intends to reveal, and Obi says he is willing to have the matter decided in court, telling anyone with criminal allegations against him to bring them before a court.
