Meta is expanding “Instagram for TV” to Samsung smart TVs in the United States, bringing the service to a wider range of connected TV devices. Meta says the rollout makes Instagram available on most connected Samsung TV models in the country. Alongside the platform expansion, Meta introduces multiple new features. These include interest-based channels, which organize content by topics users may follow. Meta also adds phone-to-TV casting, allowing viewers to move content from their phones to the TV screen. In addition, Meta is enabling Stories to be watched on the big screen.
Both outlets report that Meta is also testing broader viewing formats, including an episodic series experience and live TV-style viewing. Digital Trends also describes a horizontal video hub as part of the viewing interface being tested alongside the expansion. The updates are presented as part of Meta’s ongoing effort to adapt Instagram content for television viewing, building on the initial availability of the app for select Samsung devices.
